Lauren M. Ahern

Lauren assists in the creation of a comprehensive estate plan that fully addresses the client’s legal needs during life while minimizing the imposition of taxes – as well as minimizing intrafamily controversy and avoiding probate – down the road.  Her work includes the drafting of wills and trust agreements, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and beneficiary designations, as well as documents related to business succession and intergenerational planning, long term care planning, guardianships, charitable gift planning and future-focused planned giving. She integrates counsel regarding estate and income tax saving techniques in the estate planning process.

In the area of estate administration, Lauren strives to provide inclusive service that reduces the burden on executors and trustees. She represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries in probate matters, taking a straightforward and practical approach that seeks to minimize costs and maximize benefits while staying as true to the client’s wishes for their estate as is possible. This work encompasses the satisfaction of federal and state inheritance and estate tax obligations, the preparation of petitions and supporting documents, and the settlement of complex estates via formal and informal methods, including probate litigation involving contested wills and fiduciary accountings. 

Lauren has also served as outside counsel to financial institutions that provide estate and trust settlement services to their customers as institutional fiduciaries and require external legal support.
